Floor space in a warehouse is finite. Once the racking is in and the aisles are set, the pressure to store more — more SKUs, more volume, more variety — has nowhere to go horizontally. It has to go up. The question is whether going up means building taller racking that operators struggle to access safely, or deploying a system that uses height intelligently and brings inventory directly to the person who needs it.
A Vertical Lift Module does the latter. It works on a straightforward principle: two columns of trays, an inserter-extractor in the center, and an ergonomic picking bay at floor level. The system automatically profiles each tray to the minimum height its contents require, eliminating wasted space. When a pick is needed, the extractor retrieves the exact tray and presents it at the bay — no walking, no searching, no climbing. The operator works at a fixed point, at the right height, with the right item in front of them.
Footprint reduces by up to 90% compared to conventional shelving covering the same inventory. Pick accuracy improves because the system guides the operator to the exact item and quantity. And because inventory is fully enclosed, it is protected from dust, damage, and unauthorized access — a material consideration in spare parts, pharmaceutical, and high-value environments.

VLM Benefits
Available from 3 to 12 meters in height with hundreds of tray size and payload combinations, the VLM accommodates items of widely varying format and weight within a single footprint. The system can be configured to stage a second tray internally while the first is being picked, maintaining ergonomics while increasing throughput. Multiple units link to a single interface, allowing one operator to manage several machines simultaneously.
Integration with WMS, ERP, conveyors, and AGVs is supported as standard, making the VLM a working component of a broader automated operation rather than a standalone island.
