On the 25th of February 2019, during Expeditors’ warehouse opening ceremony, SPAN was presented with an Appreciation Award in recognition of the team’s outstanding services and support. ‘We are both honoured and humbled to be recognized by one of our partners for the efficient services and solutions we have implemented. Expeditors’ state of the art 3PL facility, located in Dubai World Central (DWC), encompasses 10,500 square meters of warehousing space of which 50% is climate controlled ensuring all potential customer requirements are met. Both teams worked closely together in order to design a facility that could accommodate the largest number of locations while maintaining 100% selectivity and product rotation. A combination of selective and VNA racking were deployed in the different chambers to allow the storage of over 18,000 pallets. The VNA solution was comprised of both 10 meters high storage racks as well as special Jungheinrich Material Handling Equipment (MHE) equipped with 180 degree rotating “fork turrets” to ensure safe, quick, and efficient access. The design also incorporated enough area to allow for a wide range of value added services ranging from kitting and assembly to cross docking and trans-shipment.
Expeditors, with this new state of the art 3PL distribution centre is taking a more focused approach to customized and flexible end-to-end logistics solutions for its clients. ‘We are privileged to be associated with Expeditors’ growth plans and look forward to working with them on more projects in the near future’ added Nadim.
