In mid-October the 100,000th vehicle – a type EJE 118 pedestrian-controlled pallet truck – rolled off the production line at the Jungheinrich plant in Landsberg, Germany, near the city of Halle. This battery-powered low-platform forklift has made a name for itself as a highly economical tool for loading and unloading as well as for transporting goods over short distances.

Earmarked for delivery to the Jungheinrich branch in Poland, the jubilee truck was the object of a small party organised by plant management. “This is our thank you to all staff members for their professional performance,” stated Dr. Marc Ehrmann, head of the Jungheinrich Landsberg plant, adding that he was “proud of our wonderful team!”

The Landsberg plant opened in 2009. Initially only type EJE pedestrian-controlled pallet trucks were produced there, but in the subsequent months Jungheinrich transferred its low-platform truck production entirely to Landsberg. “This plant is a success story and was a smart investment,” declared Dr. Klaus-Dieter Rosenbach, the Jungheinrich Board of Management member in charge of Engineering, at the party.

Currently more than 20,000 trucks are produced annually at the Landsberg plant. As Ehrmann commented, the plant relies on “state-of-the-art, innovative and environmentally friendly production facilities.” At Jungheinrich in Landsberg some 150 staff members are employed in the areas of development, purchasing, quality, production and logistics. In addition the team has five trainees, who are receiving their initial career training as industrial mechanics.

Dr. Marc Ehrmann continued that Jungheinrich Landsberg was perceived as “an attractive employer, adding that the plant would grow even further in the coming years: “To this end we are continually interested in finding highly qualified, highly motivated workers who are interested in contributing to our success story,” he concluded.
